  • chris was here from sunday ’til this morning. can’t remember the last
time i’ve had to laugh  so much. the last 2 weeks, in paris and
amsterdam, hanging out with chris have been  really good.

    picture, please.

sunday we went to wickedjazzsounds @ sugar factory with judith, tijs, and simone.

tuesday, we had a ridiculous lunch at de kas, a restaurant housed in
it’s own greenhouse in the middle of a nature preserve. finished 2
bottles there and continued the after-lunch drinks at elsa’s. then
headed to rembrandtsplein, on the flower market where chris bought
gifts for his girlfriend kyuri and her younger sister, yeri. walked to
bank’s where chris continued his drinking while we waited for marleen,
judith’s younger sister, to finish with class. onward to leidseplein:
arranged to meet rivelino to give him a copy of the recording and sat
down at heineken hoeke for drinks while waiting for shahana. he never
showed, so a couple hours later, we got some mexican food. chris got
everyone tequila shots in lieu of the more palatable coffee. he ended
up drinking shahana’s, too. after dinner, walked back to
rembrandstplein and de kroon for drinks, where a fire in a nearby
building had killed the power of the entire block. after drinking in
the dark then to arc, for after-dinner drinks while waiting for tijs to
finish his squash match, and the clubs to open. a few hours later, we
contiue at cafe maarten, where we meet up with lawrence and tijs.
drinking continues. 2 hours later, we head next door to dansen bij
jansen for some late nite retardation, until we finally concede victory
to the day at around 4 in the morn. chris should have some choice
    photos on his xanga soon.

  • brief update:

yesterday, the lee bros. & sis ventured 35 mins. outside of paris to investigate the abomination that is Euro Disney. although the three of us had a great time `tarding around, in no way does it live up to the classification “amusement park”. it`s actually real pathetique. today we did a 4 hr. Segway tour–having spent some time here on a number of occasions, the tour part of the day was forgettable but riding those Segways around the city was ethereal! i don’t understand why the Segway got so much negative press. they’re so much fun to ride and alot quicker than you’d imagine. riding through the streets, gardens, and various attractions, we enjoyed a sort of celebrity status, with tourists and locals alike snapping pictures of us on the Segways. and judging by the attention and general reactions of onlookers, i think the end of the previously ill received Segway is far from imminent. christine and chris took some entertaining pictures and video. i’ll post them when i get them. later tonite, we’re headed over to yeri’s apartment (younger sis of chris’ miss) for drinks and to meet and hang out with some of her friends. and for the first time, christine’ll be partying alongside the infamously debaucherous lee brothers. let the sloppiness begin.

  • back in paris. this time with the entire Lee clan. chris and i are staying in a dumpy hotel while the rest of the family lodge in style in an apartment that we ‘re renting, overlooking la comedie francaise. sleep. walk. eat. shop. sleep. walk. eat. shop. when i get back to amsterdam on friday, it’ll be one year to the day that judith and i commenced our unconventional and unlikely romance. and it just gets better. other things to look forward to: marvin’s birthday on saturday, queen’s day, noah’s possible visit, interview for assistant teaching position @ amsterdam conservatory (fingers crossed), latifa’s boat party in may, holiday with judith to either tunisia, morroco, or someplace sunny on the mediteranean coast.

    tot straks.

  • spent the weekend visiting chris in paris. lots of walking, talking,
smackalishicious eating,  and lots of looking. i wonder if he has
    pictures on his site.
i’m getting my haircut by the cousin of judith’s ex-boyfriend-he’s some
kind of established hair cutter in amsterdam. it doesn’t seem like to
    bright idea, or what?

    one word: DISASTEROUS!

when i get my hair cut short, which i usually don’t if i can help it, i
end up looking younger than i am. after thursday’s appointment, i look
like a mature 8 year old. i’m so glad i already have a girlfriend. it’s
    really that bad.

  • spent
the weekend with judith at her parents’ place down south, in venlo.
highlights of the weekend include driving up to Thermaalbad Arcen and
relaxing in the outdoor hotsprings with geriatric german tourists. the
outing was spur of the moment, so i had to borrow collie’s (jud’s dad)
swim trunks, circa 1960 (no joke). imagine creme-hued short-shorts (a
la middle school P.E. gym shorts) with a 7inch inseam that turn
transluscent the moment they make contact with liquid. the only thing
concealing my pistachios was faux hawaiin design and
carelessly-stitched-together palm trees giving shade to my “roots”.
chances are you know what i’m talking about–in conclusion, the shorts
were a bit too european, even for europe. but it was great. and it’s
always cool to get wasted with collie and talk about music, get stuffed
off of marjolijn’s (jud’s mom) cooking and alcohol, and taking a break
from the relatively frenetic pace of amsterdam life for some southern
    hospitality.

here are some dates to keep in mind:
    Paris: march 27th-april 6th
    London: next weekend (?)
    LA: may 14th-TBD
    New York: may 18th-25th
    China, Japan, & Korea: june-july 2005

    let’s interface.
